Conflicts of Interest & Funding

Disclosure expectations for authors, reviewers, editors, funding and sponsor roles.

Relevant financial and non-financial relationships should be disclosed so editors and readers can evaluate potential influences on scholarly work.

Authors

Authors should disclose financial relationships, professional or personal interests, funding sources and sponsor involvement that could be relevant to the work. Absence of a conflict may also be stated where required by the journal.

Reviewers and editors

Reviewers and editors should disclose relationships that could affect, or reasonably appear to affect, impartial evaluation. Material conflicts should lead to recusal or reassignment.

Funding and sponsor role

Funding sources should be identified accurately. Where relevant, the sponsor’s role in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation or publication decisions should be described.
